20-Mile Race To R. Alcorn
R, Alcorn (Methodist) was a convincing winner of a 20-mile road running race on Saturday, when rain caused the cancellation of the inter-ciub athletic, meeting at Rugby Park. Completing the distance in Ihr Simin SSsec Alcorn was more than six minutes ahead of the next man. R. McMillan (Lovelock. South Canterbury). Two Technical athletes. R. Harding and R. Alcorn had a minute lead from McMillan after 19 miles, with a gap of several minutes to the main bunch. Results:—
R. Alcorn (Methodist). 1:51:55. 1; R. McMillan (Lovelock), 1:58:24, 2; R. Grant (Toe H>. 2:06:25. 3; J. Henwood (New Brighton), 4; D. Cameron (Marist), 5; M. Poulton (Christchurch), 6; R. Hayes (Technical), 7; F. Sharp (Marist), 8.
