Birthdays In C.W.I.
The Burnside Country Women’s Institute recently celebrated its fourth birthday. The president, Miss I. Hill, made the cake in the shape of a figure four and the candles were lit and fanned by guests. Guests were entertained by a fashion parade and each guest received a floral spray. The choir presented items. The Lyttelton C.W.I. celebrated its tenth birthday on February 13. Mrs E. O’Donovan welcomed the guests, who included Mrs B. Collett, the Mayoress of Lyttelton, Mrs G. H. McLachlan, members of the executive committee and representatives of institutes at Bromley, HillsboroughHeathcote, North Beach, South Brighton, Rapaki and Sumner. Mrs McLachlan cut the cake and visitors were given sprays.
Entertainment was by the drama group and Mesdames E. Porteous and B. Loader.
