LEADING ROLE
(London correspondent) LONDON, March 12. s Maori bass singer, Inia Te Wiata, will play a leading part in a new Broadway musical based on the life of the prolific French novelist and dramatist, Alexandre Dumas, with music adapted from compositions of Saint-Saens. Te Wiata said that the musical, which opens on August 1 in Los Angeles, September 19 in San Francisco, and midNovember on Broadway, New York, was more in the tradition of “Kismet” rather than in the serious musical vein of George Gershwin’s "Porgy and Bess,” in which he has appeared in the past with outstanding success.
