PUBLIC NOTICES ♦ w NOTICE Is hereby given that a SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING of AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (CANTERBURY) INCORPORATED will b* held in the CANTERBURY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S HALL in Cambridge terrace on MONDAY, MARCH 20. 1967, at 7.30 P.M. BUSINESS: To consider and, if thought fit, pass the following Motion submitted by the requisite number of financial members in accordance with Rule 19 of the Association’s Rules:— "That the Rules of Automobile Association (Canterbury) Incorporated be amended as follows:

(a) That Rule 4 (2) be amended by deleting the word "entire” in the second line thereof and further amended by inserting after the word "hereof" in the ninth line, the words: “subject nevertheless to any direction in that behalf by the Association in general meeting.” and further by adding at the conclusion of the said Rule 4 (2) the words:— "provided nevertheless that any such letting shall be for a period not exceeding six months.” (b) That Rule 4 (3) be amended by adding the provisos as follows: “provided that notice of the intention to make any such By-law, alteration, amendment or repeal shall be given by advertisement in at least two of the newspapers circulating in Christchurch. not less than 28 days before the making, alteration, amendment or repeal of or to the By-law and provided further that on receipt of a Notice of Objection to such By-law signed by not less than twenty members of the Association, within th* said period of 28 days, the By-law shall not take effect unless and until the same shall have been ratified by the Association at an annual or special general meeting called for the purpose.” (c) That . Rule 10 be amended by deleting the whole of the Rule after the word "Association” in the third line thereof. (d) That Rule 23 be amended by inserting after the word “period” in the third line thereof the words:— "but not exceeding 30 days in the case of any one period.” (e> By adding the new Rule known a* Rule 4 (A) as follows:

“notwithstanding anything In the foregoing part of these rules, the Association in general meeting duly convened In accordance with Rule 19 hereof and by majority decision of those present and voting, may revoke or amend any decision of the council on any matter affecting the use of the property of the Association whether at Headquarters or In any territory assigned to the management of a branch committee and the council shall be bound by and give effect to any such resolution duly carried.” Admission will be on production of current Membership Ticket, or declaration of financial membership.
