Abundance Of Peaches
An over-supply of peaches In Christchurch produce markets on Thursday brought prices to their lowest level this season. Freestone peaches sold from 7s to 12s a case, and tray peaches from 6s to 10s a tray. The official range of prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association is:— Onions, to 20s a sugar bag: swedes, to 12s 6d a sugar bag: potatoes, to 12s 6d a sugar bag: tomatoes, <d to Is 3d a lb; freestone peaches, 7s to 12s a case; tray peaches, 6s to 10s a tray; greengages, to 15s a case; nectarines, 10s to 16s a case.
