C.A.R.P.
Sir,—Why all the carping about C.A.R.P.? Has not the Prime Minister exhorted us to pull in our belts? If the housewife chooses to do it by cutting down on cakes, buns, and biscuits surely she is worthy of praise, not blame. After all, the women and children of this country are not responsible for the Government’s import binge, but they are required to make the sacrifices that will halt the country’s slide towards bankruptcy. It will be interesting to see which stomach bulges recede the quicker, the Cabinet’s or the workers’ and and pensioners’.—Yours, etc., FORCED SLIMMING. March 10, 1967.
