Request For Footbridge
A request to the Christchurch City Council that a footbridge be constructed alongside the future widened Madras street bridge incorporating the iron railings and buttresses of the existing structure will be made by the Christchurch Civic Trust.
At the trust’s meeting, Mr P. J. Beaven said it would complement the superb stretch of the River Avon, and enable the attractive features of the bridge to be retained.
