SYDNEY. The New Zealand . pacer. Waitaki Hanover, has broken down and will not start in Friday night's Miracle Mlle at Harold Park. Another New Zealand horse, Rocky Star, has been selected to replace Waitaki Hanover in the invitation field. Rocky Star is expected to. be driven by the New Zealand reinsman, D. J. Townley, who drove Waitaki Hanover in the recent inter-Dominion championship series in Perth. Rocky Star earned a start in the Miracle Mile with a solid
third to Robin Dundee and Angelique in a free-for-all at the Melbourne Show Ground last Saturday night.
Connexions yesterday Informed New South Wales Trotting Club officials that Waitaki Hanover was lame'after his race in Melbourne.
At this stage there are five certain starters in the Miracle Mile —Robin Dundee and Rocky Star, Tongue Twister and Rachel McGregor (New South Wales), and Angelique (Victoria). The sixth runner will be selected from four New South Wales-trained horses Voice Derby, Southern Song, First Lee and Double Adios.
