TROTTING ON-COURSE DOUBLE

Oh Johnny and Roseland Beauty completed an oncourse double worth £32 5s for £1 at Hutt Park last night. The return for the concession double, Oh Johnny and Cathpete, was £6 Is 6d for £l.

Oh Johnny gained an all-the-way win in the Wrackler Handicap. At one stage he was out by 15 lengths, and, although tiring towards the end, battled on gamely to win by five lengths. In a close finish for second, Regal Way, which improved three places from the home turn, beat General’s Choice by a long head. Scottish Piper, which was always close up, was a neck away fourth.

Roseland Beauty improved quickly from midfield to join Cathpete and Safe Flight on the home turn in the Army Handicap. She ran on strongly to win by two lengths. Cathpete, which trailed most of the way, was second by a length from Safe Flight. Moon Averil, which was dose up on the inside all the way, battled on for fourth ahead of Linkwood Lady. Flight Adorian, an odds-on favourite; made short work of his rivals in the Navy Handicap. He was three back on the outside early but sprinted to the lead near the home turn. In the run home he drew away from Far Cry, winning by two and a half lengths. Far Cry, third on the inside to the three furlongs, was just as easily second. Reporter came from the middle to shade Maluka for third. The latter, after receiving the run of the race, was pushed back to the rear by the tiring Upright near the three furlongs and finished well. Rosedale Hanover, the place favourite, did well to finish fifth after receiving a bad check at the start. Results:
