She won her first race as a three-year-old at Beaumont in 1961 and up until this season was trained by E. A. Winstoe at Gore.

She is now with B. G. Smith at Invercargill.

Now an eight-year-old, Flying Trix began her latest campaign with a win over Lisa at Beaumont in December. She was trained for that success by Mrs C. L. Sell, of Waimahaka, who races here in partnership with Mr E. Churchill, of Pine Bush Mr Churchill bred Flying Trix from the non-stud book mare, Long Flight, which is also the dam of Cal Flight. Trlxeen and Vee Flight. Long Flight was by Airway from Long Ago, which was bred by Mr Churchffi, and one of her progeny was Summer Chase.

Because he was beginning to get too many horses on his property, Mr Chin-chin sold Summer Chase to a neighbour Mrs D. F. Turner, for a nominal sum—ls. It was one of the bargain buys of Southland turf history. Mrs Turner bred Bellarook and Cassarook from Summer Chase and in her colours the pair have now won more than £20,000.
