The Canterbury Terminating Building Society, the owner of adjoining buildings, bought a section of 13.3 perches at the corner of Cashel street and Manchester street for £37,000 at publie auction yesterday. The property, which was occupied by the Para Rubber Company before fire destroyed the premises, was offered on account of the estate of Thomas Bassett The auctioneer was Mr N. H. McCrostie.

The land is zoned commercial C. The government valuation is £26,650. After the initial bid of £30,000, Mr McCrostie took five bids of £lOOO, and four of £5OO.
