Leader Stole And Forged

The leader of a group of men who intended to sail into the Pacific to protest against nuclear tests, had assumed another man’s identity, Sydney Central Court was told today. Police said that he was arrested after his photograph appeared in a Sydney newspaper on Saturday morning.
Before the court was Mark Alfred Spooner, aged 21, an engineer, of no fixed abode. Spooner, who had assumed the identity of Robin Sanders, pleaded guilty to having stolen a driving licence in that name and to having forged and uttered a smallpox vaccination certificate. Mr C. K. Ward, Chief Stipendiaiy Magistrate, sentenced him to six months’ gaol.
