Dog Down Cliff
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 26. A young Labrador dog, nearly dead after being trapped for four days on a waterfront cliff face, was hauled to safety by rescuers this morning. An S.P.C.A. emergency inspector, Mr J. G. Doughty, was lowered on a rope 60ft down a steep cliff face near the Savage Memorial, above Tamaki Drive. He found the dog, whimpering and in a pitiful condition, lying on a tiny ledge. It was the fourth day that Mr Doughty had searched for the dog after a man fishing offshore reported hearing a dog barking on the cliff.
