LIP-READING CLASSES
Hard Of Hearing League A total of 57 were attending lip-reading classes conducted by the Christchurch branch of the Hard of Hearing League, the senior teacher (Mrs L. S. Birdling) told the league’s annual meeting last week. Two groups of 20 had attended classes at Ashburton and Rangiora, she said. A move to increase membership was requested by the newly-elected president of the league (Mr T. P. Cannon). Many persons did not know of the existence of the league and its work, he said. Other officers elected were: Vice-Presidents, the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning), Sir Joseph Ward, the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren, the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby, the Ven. Archdeacon W. M.
