Protest At Dismissal
(N.Z. Press Association)
WHANGAREI, February 27. About 400 men stopped work as a protest at the Marsden Bay power station site today after it became known that 13 Jugoslav workers had been told that their employment would end next month.
The men are among 35 Jugoslavs brought to New Zealand to serve 18 months as engineers and boilermakers. They will have served about 10 months.
Negotiations are proceeding and union officials are expected on the site tomorrow.
