CALL FOR AID
An appeal to all clubs for assistance in the running of the South Island indoor bowling championships, which will be held in Christchurch for the first time at Queen’s Birthday week-end, was made by Mr R. Foote after his election as president of the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association.
Mr Foote expressed members’ appreciation of the work done by the retiring president (Mr R. Hagwood) during his threeyear term of office. Officers elected by the association’s annual meeting were: Patron, his Worship the Mayor, Mr G. Manning; president, Mr R. Foote; immediate past president, Mr R. Hogwood; vicepresidents, Mr N. E. Hocking and Mr J. Greer; executive, Mrs R. Smith, Mrs N. Buckley, Messrs L. Cheyne, K. J. Hayes, H. Williams. C. D. Hatsell, R. J. Watkin, E. G. F. Smith, D. J. Stewart, R. Ellis, J. Kelly, V. Marshall, H. B. Hobson, W. H. Logan, P. J. Taylor, A. G. Blanch, H. Foster, K. Claydon, H. Knott; secretary-treasurer, Mr G. S. Gardner; hall board, extraordinary vacancy, Mr E. G. F. Smith: ordinary vacancy, Mr M. Penney; selectors, Messrs R. Fridd, J. Greer, E. G. F. 1 Smith.
