Firmer Trend Off-Set By Light Trading
Rises outnumbered falls when the week opened on New Zealand Stock Exchanges yesterday but this firmness was largly nullified by the lightness of trading.
The range of price changes was small. Most of the rises were adjustments on shares which have been falling. Leaders were amongst the rises. After its recent dullness, the Australian sector improved.
Fletcher added Id to 15s lOd in Christchurch and another 2d to 16s in a Wellington sale. J. Wattie recovered another 3d to 16s 3d and is id below its highest ex issue price. Prestige, which has been
steady at around 10s, gained 3d, while the recently listed R. W. Saunders gained 6d to 15s 6d. D.I.C. the Dunedin-based retailer, lost 8d to 13s 6d in the
I biggest fall of the day, while I another retailer, McKenzies, > fell 6d to a new low of 7s. Neill Cropper lost 3d to • 22s to make a fall of 3s 3d ; for this year.
