Ferry Road Cordoned
Ferry road was cordoned off for a period last evening and traffic diverted after two cars collided at 8.10 p.m. and several of the persons involved had been injured.
The accident occurred about 50 yards east of the Barbour street and Ferry road intersection. The cars were driven by Raymond James Campbell, of 213 Burwood road, and David Friskin, of 45 Torlesse street. Both cars were damaged extensively.
Mr Friskin was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries and admitted in a moderately serious condition. A passenger in the car, Allan Reid,- of 11 Wimbome crescent, was admitted with arm injuries. His condition was also described as moderately serious.
A passenger in the other car, Margaret Isabel Campbell, was treated for injuries
to her teeth. Anyone who may have seen the accident is asked to get in touch with the Christchurch Central Police station. Multiple Collision. Two women were admitted to hospital with moderately serious injuries after a multiple collision on the corner of Salisbury and Manchester streets at 10.27 p.m. Marilyn Jessop of Flat 1, 7 St. Albans street, suffered head injuries and Jaine Woodland, of 439 Barrington street, suffered injuries to her head and chest.
Two cars and power cycle were involved In the collision, which was attended by the police. The Christchurch Traffic Department were called upon to direct traffic as one of the cars was left blocking the road after the collision. Evan Passmore, of 36 Bowenvale avenue, was admitted to hospital with head injuries. His condition was described as not serious.
Struck By Car.—Margaret Joy Brown of 42 Hilton street, Kaiapoi, was admitted to Burwood Hospital last evening after she had been struck by a car in the main street of Kaiapoi. She suffered from head and facial injuries. She was attended by a doctor at the scene of the accident and her condition was described as comfortable. Admitted To Hospital.— Peter Wayne Robinson, of 6 Charlesworth street, was admitted to hospital after his cycle had been involved in a collision with a car on the corner of Victoria street and Oxford terrace at 5 p.m. He suffered head, leg and arm injuries and his condition last evening was described as satisfactory. Leg Injury.—Robert Murray Alexander of 263 Fitzgerald avenue suffered a leg injury when his motor scooter hit a car on the corner of Oxford terrace and Chester street at 8.25 p.m. Mr Alexander was admitted.
