FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure lies across the North Island, while a stationary front lies over the south of the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light to moderate northeasterlies predominating. Areas of fog at first, otherwise partly cloudy and mild. Marlborough and Nelson.—Northerly winds, mainly moderate but strong about Cook Strait. Extensive low cloud and fog areas this morning but partly cloudy and warm later. Buller and Westland.—Light variable winds. Overcast and mild with areas of drizzle and fog chiefly this morning. Outlook.—All districts: cloudy with scattered rain.
