Crown Sale Postponed
The ballot for 39 residential sections in Bryndwr, which was to have been held yesterday morning by the Lands and Survey Department, has been postponed. It has not yet been decided when the ballot will be held.
The department’s section officer (Mr K. W. Cay less) said that the Y.M.C.A. had applied for sections in the ballot, and a decision on this could not be made until next week. Befort the ballot had been arranged the Land Settlement Board had already approved the allocation of two sections to the Y.M.C.A. for extensions to its property in Greers road. Another section had "Iso been allocated on which to build a house for the secretary. Mr Cayless said that in fairness to the applicants who had nominated the sections concerned as their first preferences the ballot had been postponed. All the applicants would be advised of this and when the ballot could be held.
There were 111 applicants for the sections in Greers road, Saffron street, Flower street and Walden place. More than 100 applicants were advised that the ballot would not be held yesterday, and only three arrived at the office of the Commissioner of Crown Lands yesterday morning.
