Track Record ByMixed Reception

“The Press** Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Mixed Reception set new figures for 11 furlongs at Bulls when she outclassed her rivals in the Rangitikei Cup, first leg of the Rangitikei Racing Club’s main double on Saturday.

In her previous start, at Hawera, Mixed Reception had won the Egmont Cup and before that she had appeared decidedly unlucky when second in the Queen Anne Cup at Wanganui. Mixed Reception, which is raced by Mr J. J. Tennent, of Bainesse, is trained by W. L. Aitken, at Bulls. In the early part of the race Mixed Reception drifted but near the turn she joined Dervish in front. She went clear early in the run home. At the furlong Mixed Reception was well clear and H. N. Rauhihi allowed her to ease down. She won by three lengths and a half from Inner Circle. Dervish was third, and Strontian ran on well from the rear for fourth ahead of Fremont. Tracey led practically all the way to win the second leg, the Mangatapu Handicap. To do this she had to overcome a wide barrier draw, but it proved no trouble. In the run home Tracey held on to win comfortably from Gymkhana. Nenagh flashed up to take third from That’s Right. The others were headed by Might, Jay Ay, Linesman, and Grapevine.
