Two Ships Idle
Two ships were idle and others were short-manned when work started on the Lyttelton waterfront at 7 a.m. yesterday. The idle vessels wei j the Holmdale and Rikke Skou, while the short-manned ones were the Squall and Pukeko.
An additional 174 men would have been required to man all vessels requiring labour, although 621 unionists and 58 casuals were engaged to work.
