HALF STAFF DISMISSED

HAMILTON, February 24. Eighteen men were today dismissed from their jobs at the Huntly Engineering and Welding Company, Ltd., an earthmoving and industrial machinery making subsidiary of Clyde Engineering, Ltd. The men comprised about half the firm’s productive labour force and the dismissals were directly as a result of the economic situation, said the firm’s manager, Mr J. L. Wight.
