ADDINGTON TOMORROW Johnny Gee Trying For Third Win

Johnny Gee will be a firm favourite for the Summer Free-for-all, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at Addington Raceway tomorrow evening. )

Johnny Gee and Glen Dee are both five-year-olds and are two of the youngest horses in the field. Glen Dee has a sound form background and he should make Johnny Gee work hard for his third successive win.

Johnny Gee won impressively in the £3050 Canterbury Park Cup and also over a sprint distance two nights later. He looked in great heart when jogged behind the starting gate on Tuesday morning and if he reproduces his best form, he should be too good for most of his rivals.

Glen Dee gained an impressive win on the middle night at Forbury Park and finished a good fourth over two miles last Saturday after breaking early and appearing to be out of the contest soon after. Glen Dee has great brilliance, but he might not be quite as solid as some in the race. If he

can take full advantage of his favourable draw, he should make Johnny Gee work hard for a win. Le Chant, too, has sufficient ability to win in spite of drawing the second line. She showed plenty of ability at Forbury Park and could figure in the finish once more. Castleton’s Gift, Poupette, Harbour Light, Uteena and Queen’s Cord are all capable of a merry 10 furlongs and they cannot be left out of calculations. The Flying Mile, a free-for-all for 2min 13sec and 12min 12sec class horses, will be the second leg of this double. It has drawn a strong, open field and there will be plenty of room for a surprise. Friendly Tom is a possible favourite after some sound racing from behind the starting gate. He can expect spirited opposition from Happy Songster and Raven Song, and the chances of Bob Again, Bright Highland, Vista Abbey, Lin Dor and Landlord cannot be overlooked. An on-course concession double will be run on the Airways Stakes and the Harewood Stakes. Fair weather is forecast and the track will be in good order.
