USING NEW CURRENCY
P.O. Training Begins
The Post Office began train, ing its staff this week for the use of decimal currency. Between now and the introduction of dollars and cents in July, every postal employee will receive training commensurate with his or her requirements.
On Wednesday, branch controlling officers at the Chief Post Office under the supervision of the Chief Postmaster (Mr M. E. Wilson) and the regional engineer (Mr H. W. Wilkinson) had lectures and practice runs with the two currencies.
Further courses for permanent postmasters in the Christchurch postal district will ,be held on January 31 and February 2. A three-day course for 20 branch trainers will begin on February 8. Courses for the individual and sub-office staffs will begin near the end of February.
