Steamer Express
Sir, —1 am sure that many people would welcome an additional Lyttelton-Wel-lington ferry service on a Sunday night. This would enable people to travel to Wellington or Christchurch on a Friday night and return on a Sunday night, thus making full use of their week-end and not having to wait until Monday night to return.—Yours, etc., L.M.K. January 16, 1967.
[The Christchurch manager of the Union Steam Ship Company (Mr H. G. Edwards) replies: “This matter has been considered on several occasions and we do have Sunday sailings during busy periods but the traffic is not there for regular Sunday sailings. Further, it would be unfair to expect the crews to be at sea every night in the week.”]
