FOURTH TEST
Lead Of 109 At Lunch
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) DURBAN. I. Redpath headed Australia’s tenacious struggle to regain ground in the third cricket test against South Africa at Kingsmead yesterday. The Australians, 153 runs behind on the first innings, had taken their second innings score to three for 262 at lunch on the fourth day. This gave them an over-all lead of 109 with seven second innings wickets in hand.
Redpath took his overnight total of 36 to 64 in two hours of dour batting yesterday morning.
He shared a 65-run stand with R. Cowper, then teamed up successfully with I. Chappell in an unfinished stand of 38 runs.
In overcast conditions the South African seam bowlers plugged away on an unresponsive wicket. The only wicket was taken by T. Lance, who had Cowper caught behind the wicket for 40.
