UNDER-SEA OBSTACLE
Navy Search Fails (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. The minesweeper Inverell has made an unsuccessful search for the submerged obstacle which the Japanese freighter Saiyo Maru struck on December 17, said a Navy spokesman today. The Japanese ship limped into Auckland with a shattered propeller after striking what may have been a submarine peak 23 miles east of Cape Brett.
The Navy will report to Wellington and a further investigation will be made during a hydrographic survey.
