Record Fish
The Whakatane Big Game Fishing Club, in its first few weeks of operation, is claiming a North Island record for a yellow-fin tuna caught by a member last week-end. The 1561 b fish was landed by Mr D. L. Grant, of Te Puke, on an 801 b breaking-strain line, after an hour-long battle. The fish, with nine others, was I caught off Whale Island. A total of 31 tuna have been! caught this season by club members. Other game fish caught include sharks and kingfish.—(P. A.)
