Waitaki Expects Better Year
Waitaki Farmers’. Freezing Company, Ltd., Pukeuri, expects another successful and improved year, the chairman (Mr R. J. Gibson) told shareholders at the annual meeting.
The current season began late and slowly, he said. Very little stock was available at the outset and then difficulties with the Freezing Workers’ Union limited the kill.
“Feed is reasonably plentiful in most districts, and the quality of stock is close to normal.
“The plant and buildings at Pukeuri will shortly be able to cope with a daily kill of 14,000, but this figure will not be reached this season, primarily because of a labour shortage,” said Mr Gibson.
