The Beatles To Break Up

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 23. Paul McCartney said in a magazine interview published yesterday that The Beatles were breaking up. "Now we Beatles are ready to go our own ways,” he said. “I’m no longer one of the four mop-tops,” he said—and announced he had given himself a year to decide on a new career.

McCartney described the oriental-style moustache he now wears “as part of breaking up The Beatles. I no longer believe in the image.” The group, who recently denied rumours of a permanent split-up, are due to start work on their third film soon —a comedy to be made in London at a cost of £700,000.
