SOUTHDOWN RAMS

58 Average 220 Gns Fifty-eight stud Southdown rams averaged 220gns and sold to a top price of lOOOgns at the Punchbowl stud sale of Mr H. J. Andrew, of Maheno, North Otago, last week. Rams were purchased by breeders from Auckland to Invercargill. The lOOOgns ram, Punchbowl V 279, was by Punchbowl T 43, who also sired the second and third best priced rams out of the offering and has to date sired 32 stud rams. The purchasers of the top priced ram were Messrs J. C. Medlicott and Son, of Waimate, and J. A. Brown, of Oamaru. Two rams sold at 700gns each—one to D. H. Robertson and Company, of Gore, and the other to J. D. and W. T. Robertson, of Gore.

Other high priced rams were sold as follow: At 525gns to Messrs Medlicott and Brown; at 450gns to T.E.M. Brooks, Canterbury: at 425gns to I. M. Jordan of Blenheim; at 425gns to L. G. McDonald, Winton; at 360gns to A McCallum, Clinton; at 350gns to Messrs Stiven and Roger, Gore; at 275gns to H. A. Clarke, Invercargill; at 250gns to A. T. Heron, Oamaru; at 250gns to J. G. Sutton, Invercargill; and at 270gns to R. J. Law and Sons, Canterbury.
