Senior B Games
Old Collegians A moved into a 19-point lead in the senior B competition on Saturday. It beat its B team by an innings, after a dramatic collapse by the latter.
East-Shirley, the second team, could not capitalise on its first innings lead. Hagley Old Boys, with an outright win over West-University, moved closer to the leaders.
Old Collegians B was 83 for two in its second innings but was all out for 95.
The outstanding performance was by the Hagley Old Boys medium-pacer, T. L. Jones. He mowed through the West-Uni-versity second innings and took nine for 47.
Points: —Old Collegians A 74, East-Shirley 55, Hagley Old Boys 54, H. 5.0.8. 24, West-University 23, Old Collegians B 4.
Scores: Hagley Old Boys 273 beat WestUniversity 90 (A. T. Waters 34; G. F. Harper 5/47, M. E. Sibley 3/13, T. L. Jones 2/20) and 102 (R. L. McHarg 26; Jones 9/47) by an innings and 81 runs. East-Shirley 151 (G. D. V. Pulley 48. D. I. A. Cameron 33, J. D. Capstick 21; P. A. T. Small 5/56, G. Allen 2/70) and 106/9 (J. W. Grocott 33. P. G. Coman 20; M. R. Spinks 3/50, Small 3/51) beat H. 5.0.8. 131 and 157 (B. Wilkinson 38 not out, W. Austin 30, W. A. Hadlee 29; Cameron 4/38, N. Kelly 2/36, Coman 2/47) on the first innings.
Old Collegians A 357/5 dec. (D. S. Banks 114, H. J. Taylor 74 not out, S. J. Hunt 33; T. D. Gibson 2/60) beat Old Collegians B 236 and 95 (D. A. Pickering 32, A. F. G. Blakely 27; J. H. M. Dawson 5/32, M. G. Lester 4/15) by an innings and 26 runs.
