| mixed fortunes in their second round singles matches. ! Miss F. Durr had little trouble in disposing of her Australian opponent, Miss J. Nelson, 6-2, 6-1. But her team mate, Miss E. Terras, went 'down to the hard hitting Australian, Miss K. Krantzke, 3-6, 2-6. The veteran Australian, R. Emerson, and his new doubles partner, W. Jacques encountered trouble in the match against two youngsters, P. McCumstie and K. Coombs. They were extended to four sets, finally winning 7-9, 6-3, 6-3, 16-2.

Spsedcar Title.—The world midget speedcar champion. R. Tattersail (United States) won the Lexington world 3P-lap championship at the Western Springs stadium, Auckland, on Saturday night. It was his sixth world championship. Golf Postponed.—High winds, rain and hail on Saturday forced the postponement of the third round of the Bing Crosby golf tournament.
