Mr Edwards And The Labour Party
Sir, “Disillusioned Labourite” is wrong, as Mr Edwards was expelled from the Labour Party for breaking its rules. The Federation of Labour, unlike the vested interests that run the National Party, acts in an advisory capacity to the Labour Party. Mr Douglas is branded as a former Lee supporter, yet two present and one former Tory Members of Parliament were once in the Labour Party. My friend, Mr O’Reilly, was forced to resign from the National Party although he was twice their Timaru candidate. Mr Adam Hamilton and Mr Gordon Coates did not receive British justice when they were reprimanded by the National Party for not following Sir Sidney Holland out of the War Cabinet in 1943. —Yours, etc., DISILLUSIONED NATIONALIST. January 13, 1967.
