Roses For U.S.
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Jan. 13. Air New Zealand will have about 50 Waikato roses on one of its direct flights to Los Angeles at the end of the month.
The roses are being flown to North America to be photographed. They will be used to illustrate an article on the February Pacific Rose Society annual show in “Home” magazine, published by the “Los Angeles Times.”
The magazine recently asked the New Zealand Rose Society to supply about 50 blooms. The roses will be selected and packed by Mr P. Stephens of Te Awamutu. During the 15-hour trip to Los Angeles the roses will be kept chilled at a constant temperature of 35deg. Special controls designed by Air New Zealand engineers will maintain this temperature in the aircraft’s hold.
