OVERRAN RUNWAY
Men Not Hurt (N.Z. Press Association* AUCKLAND, Jan. 13. Two men escaped injury when their light aircraft overran the runway at Whitianga aerodrome this afternoon. The plane, a Waikato Aero Club Cessna 172, was landing on a newspaper delivery run. The pilot, Mr M. Campbell, an instructor with the club, was accompanied by a club member, Mr D. Waghom. “One of the wings is a write-off and an elevator has also been damaged,” a spokesman for the club said tonight. A new wing will be delivered from New Plymouth tomorrow and the plane should be ready for flying on Sunday night.
