Sixty Territorial soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, will fly to Fiji today to take part in exercise “Tropic Dwn.” They will leave Wigram in an R.N.Z.A.F. Hercules at 7 a.m. Another flight will leave tomorrow.

The contingent of 120 men from Greymouth, Ashburton, Timaru, Nelson, and Christchurch went into Burnham Military Camp on Friday evening for two days’ intensive training. On Saturday the commander of the Southern Military District (Brigadier W. R. K. Morrison) addressed the men on the importance of the today jungle training exercise. Before his present appointment Brigadier Morrison was the commander of the Fiji Military Forces. The officer commanding the exercise (Major E. V. Braggins) said the enthusiasm of the troops was high.
