Chosen “Miss Kaikoura”
Before • packed audience in the Kaikoura Memorial Hall, Miss Denise Montgomery, a student, of North Beach, Christchurch, was judged “Miss Kaikoura” from 11 contestants in the bathing-beauty contest on Thursday evening. Miss Montgomery, who is •till attending college, is on holiday in Kaikoura with her parents. She entered her first bathing-beauty contest when members of her family dared her to parade.
Second place went to Miss Dianne Stokes, of Kaikoura, and a special prize was awarded to Miss Christine Smith, also of Kaikoura. Mrs B. H. Brown, wife of the president of the Kaikoura Lions Club, presented the winner with the blue ribbon and first prize of £lO, the second place-getter with £5, and the third with a trophy.
