SEARCH AND RESCUE
Helicopter To Stand By (N.Z. Preu Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. An R.N.Z.A.F. helicopter will stand by for search and rescue operations around Auckland during New Year week-end.
The helicopter, which was also made available over the Christmas period, will be ready for any emergency, as will a Sunderland flying boat or a Bristol Freighter. Squadron Leader H. J. Coventry, of Operations Group Headquarters, Whenuapai, said today that while the helicopters had been available in the past for emergency work, it was the first time that any had been placed on special stand-by.
