“Critical Year”
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. Next year could be a “critical year” for New Zealand, according to the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk). “Given the right policies It could also be a good year,” he said in his New Year message, released today. “With understanding, patience, determination and better management at home, steps capable of contributing more fully to the future peace and security of the South-east Asia region can be taken and, at home, a sound basis can be restored to the economy for a more satisfying way of life. “The New Year offers challenging and interesting opportunities and it will, I hope, prove to be a happy and successful one for the people of New Zealand,” said Mr Kirk.
