NEWSPAPER PLAN OFF
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 30.
The Thomson organisation yesterday scrapped its £2 million project to print two evening newspapers in outer London. The decision came after the organisation failed to reach a settlement with unions over staff for the newspapers’ Webb off-set printing process. The two unions the Society of Graphical and Allied Trades and the National Graphical Association wanted a greater number of men to man the computer-controlled phototpye setting and printing machines.
