Japanese To Buy More
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, December 30. Japanese steel mills will buy an additional 15 million tons of coal, worth £53.2 million, from the Thiess-Peabody-Mitsui operation in Queensland, it was announced in Sydney. The Yawata Iron and Steel Company said that the local consortium will now deliver 45 million tons of coal over a 10-year period from 1968. The announcement said a letter of intent guaranteeing the coal imports on a longrange basis was expected to be handed over to Mr M. C. Kelce, the president of the Theiss-Peabody-Mitsui Coal Pty., Ltd., in a few days.
