VICTORS IMPROVED
'THERE have been numerous x detail improvements to the Vauxhall Victor range for 1967. The appearance of the car, however, is almost unchanged, the main changes being a new grille and a narrow decorative strip running the full length of the body sides.
The interiors of the cars have been remodelled, and the seats have been improved. The individual front seats of the Victor de luxe models have been reshaped to give better lateral support, and the VX 4/90 —the higher performance version of the Victor—has a walnut dash panel.
The compression ratio of Victor engines was increased recently, and the power output has risen from 70 to 76 b.h.p. Engine improvements include improved inlet ports and manifolds, a new type of cylinder-head gasket, better crankcase ventilation, improved piston rings, redesigned bearings, and a modified heavy-duty exhaust system.
Other improvements to the Victor models include better
brakes, and improved gearbox synchromesh. A few changes have been made to the six-cylinder Vauxhalls, mainly modifications to mechanical units to make the cars quieter. The New Zea-land-assembled Vauxhall models will be the Victor 101 standard and super, the Victor 101 super with four-speed floor-change gearbox, the super with automatic trans-
mission, the Cresta, and the Cresta automatic.
