TOO MANY CHILDREN

U.S, Migrant’s Problem

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Dec. 29.

An American family wishing to settle in New Zealand may be stopped from doing so by its size. There are nine children in the Bosch family from Montana.

Labour Department policy restricts Immigration permits to families of not more than four dependent children. Mr and Mrs F. M. Bosch tried to enter New Zealand last month, but were told by Labour Department officials that a formal application had to be filed before the family would be allowed to settle permanently. They were also told their application for residence could not be considered while they were in the country as visitors.

The family intends to return to New Zealand by ship tomorrow.

Mr Bosch has said that if the family cannot land in New Zealand this time, it will carry on to Australia.
