SKELETON IN CAR
New Lead To Identity (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. Police have a new lead in their efforts to identify a skeleton found in a wrecked car off Orakei wharf, Auckland, in September. Sergeant B. F. Daw, of the wharf police, said tonight that the car, a 1936 Chevrolet, was one of three similar cars sold by a Wellington firm. A former employee of the firm, now living in Auckland, recalled that two of the cars were sold to owners in Taumarunui and Hamilton. It was not known where the third car went.
Sergeant Law, who is in charge of the inquiry, said the police were now trying to find out who owned the cars.
Police believe that the skeleton was that of a European in his fifties who died some time between 1953 and 1957.
