The Wellington tennis championship finals may be delayed from this Saturday to Sunday, January 8, the day before the New Zealand titles start.
With no play yesterday and play, if there is any, limited to hardcourts today, the championships seem certain to go past Saturday.
The men’s singles and doubles events will be reduced to three sets and It is likely that the mixed doubles will be cancelled. However, these will be of only slight advantage. Many players are going to Nelson on Sunday for the South Island championships and this precludes any chance of ending the Wellington tournament on Sunday.
