Protesters Blocked
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter)
LONDON, Dec. 28.
Police blocked an attempt to lay a cardboard coffin draped in black on the United States Embassy steps tonight in protest at resumed American bombing of North Vietnam.
The demonstrators were members of an anti-nuclear-bomb organisation, the Committee of 100. Police baited their march before they reached the Embassy and prevented them moving forward with the coffin.
Small groups were allowed through to hand in letters of protest addressed to President Johnson. Six police on horses were drawn up outside the Embassy to prevent incidents.
