12 TO WORK FOR V.S.A.

Jennifer Jameson and her brother Michael, of 47 Hinau street, Christchurch, are among 12 persons selected to serve in Borneo and the Pacific for two years under the Volunteer Service Abroad scheme from early next year. Both teachers at secondary schools, they will teach at St Andrew’s School, Brunei Town, Brunei. Miss Jameson is a bachelor of arts and her brother a master of science, with honours. Two other Canterbury

teachers selected are David Mitchell, of 42 Gracefield avenue, Christchurch, and Jennifer Stewart, of 89 Rue Lavaud, Akaroa. Mr Mitchell will teach at St. Margaret’s School, Seria, Brunei. He is a bachelor of arts. Miss Stewart will teach at the Faleula High School, Western Samoa. She is a master of arts, with honours.

Other adult secondary school teaching volunteers are:

Peter and Putiputi Dey (Dunedin), Sylvia Fraser (Southland), and Imogen Willis (Rotorua), who will

teach at secondary schools in East Malaysia; Clifford Bensen (Taihape), who will teach at the Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Memorial School, in Suva, Fiji; Mary Jennings (Wellington), who will teach at the Leulumoega-Fou High School, in Western Samoa; Judith Beere (Nelson), who will teach at the Faleula High School, in Western Samoa; and Franeisca Baay (AuckInd), who will teach at the Teachers Training Institute, Nukualofa, Tonga. Three primary school teachers have also been selected. They are;

Diana Sales (Wanganui), who will teach at the Goldie College, Munda, in the British Solomon Islands; Pauline Meikle (Nelson), who will teach at St Hilda’s School, in the Solomons; and Peter Dreaver (Pukekohe), who will be assistant to the adult education officer in the Gilbert and Ellice Islands.

This group of 15 adult teaching volunteers is the largest such group that V.S.A. has sent in one year.

The names of 32 schoolleaver volunteers, selected to serve overseas next year, have already been announced.
