Situation. —A shallow trough of low pressure over the eastern Tasman Sea is moving slowly on to the country. Forecast;

Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Moderate variable winds, south-westerlies for a time; some scattered light rain at first; becoming partly cloudy later; mild afternoon temperatures. Marlborough.—Fresh northerlies decreasing; mainly cloudy; some scattered light rain; mild afternoon temperatures.

Nelson.—Moderate variable winds, some rain at first; clearing later; mild afternoon temperatures.

Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds, some rain at first; partly cloudy later Outlook.—All districts: partly cloudy.
